I did, to cover my bases, build the external firmware into the kernel. I don't know that the wifi is actually working yet, I'm still installing KDE stuff and prefer to use a hardwired connection for that, but at least I know that the modules are loaded!

Important In case the wireless configuration API (CONFIG_CFG80211) is built into the kernel (<*>) instead as a module (), the driver won't be able to load regulatory.db from /lib/firmware resulting in broken regulatory domain support. Please set CONFIG_CFG80211=m or add regulatory.db and regulatory.db.p7s to CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE.
